Welcome to the Haddam Garden Club!

Welcome to the UN-Garden Club.  We've left behind our white gloves and donned our work gloves.  We're an eclectic group of women dedicated to speading our love of gardens and gardening throughout our community.  

We encourage you to join us by getting involved in all our endeavors:  Civic Projects, Conservation Initiatives and Educational Programs.  

Give us your time and we will find a place for you.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEXT MEETING: RAINY DAY CHANGE!!! Because of the rainy forecast, our Civic Projects Work Day will have to be rescheduled. Instead, we will meet at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 12th at the UCONN Extension Center for a short business meeting followed by a luncheon, which will be provided by the HGC Hostesses. We look forward to seeing you all there. (This meeting is not open to the public but, if you are interested in other club activities, please fill out the form on the "Contact Us" page and our Membership Chair will get back to you as soon as possible.)

MONTHLY GARDENING TIP
Winter Mulch

Mulching your vulnerable trees and shrubs in preparation for the winter months has many advantages:
  • It helps prevent heaving of the soil during thaws
  • It keeps the soil from freezing too hard.
  • It allows plant roots to remain hydrated during the cold months.
  • It keeps the soil from warming up too early in the spring.
